Friday Things on a Thursday

Thursday January 23, 2020.

I literally thought today was Friday.

On Fridays I like to give my students choice time at the end of the day. We get all prepared, we pack up a little earlier, I give out their homework, and then they go about their business. So today they chose their games and blocks and it's not until realize that I have to work the next day that I realize today is not Friday.

I was so convinced. My mind was already planning the chill I was going to have at home. I think the moment reality sets in there is a short spell of depression that just smacks you out of nowhere. It lasts just long enough for the end of the day Friday to come and then you're ecstatic. The contrasting emotions almost become a routine.

Now while thinking a Thursday is a Friday is unfortunate. Nothing sucks worse than when it's a TUESDAY and you feel like it's Friday. Your mind and even your body has betrayed you by convincing you that it's Friday. I don't know about you but that actually hurts! (#Friday #ThankGodItsFriday #TGIF)

What really cracks me up about Friday is how much happier everyone seems to be. Even on my job, we don't say "Happy (insert any other day of the week)" We only say "Happy Friday" anytime it's Friday.

Is it just me or do you use your Thursdays to prepare for your Fridays? Thursdays, I become the best mental planner you have ever seen. I plan what I am going to do to ensure I leave EXACTLY on time when work is over. I don't waste my mental time on things like what I'm going to wear because I already know I'm going to dress in "acceptable bum" attire. Nope, I'm just thinking about how to make my great escape.

Have you ever been getting ready to do something JUST because you thought it was Friday?
